September 2021 Monthly Meeting
Our September Zoom Meeting will consist of:
- Presentation by the new Executive Director of Ostomy Canada Society, John Hartman
- Other business that arises.
John Hartman joins Ostomy Canada Society with over thirty years of charitable experience in a variety of local, national, and internationally-based organizations. Prior to entering this sector, John held several positions in public affairs (Atomic Energy of Canada); marketing and human resources development (North American Life) and a private firm in direct sales. His philanthropic career has taken John through a dozen years with United Way/Centraide (Toronto, Onawa, and international work) in fundraising, volunteer and Chapter development~ conference planning and Board design; three years heading up all fundraising activities at Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation; twelve years leading a small staff team at Canada’s largest network of fundraising for children’s hospitals in Canada – Children’s Miracle Network, while also managing their international group – UK, Ireland and Australia. He recently completed work on Chapter development, volunteer engagement and fundraising with Diabetes Canada, and finally partnership and special event execution for the Southlake Hospital Foundation and Jesse’s Journey – Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
John and his wife Sarah reside in Aurora, ON. Sarah is an RN and currently works as a national clinical specialist for a medical device company who also spent four years as a Wound Ostomy Resource Nurse (WORN) at St. Elizabeth. They are blessed with two children (Emily and Michael) who live in Ottawa and Aurora, ON. John and Sarah have moved throughout their careers- Pinawa, MB, Toronto, Oakville, Ottawa, and Aurora as well as doing various work-related projects in Perch, Australia, San Paolo, Brazil and London, England. He keeps busy by transforming old wooden pallets into furniture, flags, birdhouses, and picnic rabies. He loves to cook, BBQ and travel, and has been known to find himself knee-deep in the woods looking for his golf ball.
He is excited to join the Ostomy Canada Society to work alongside committed volunteers, Chapters, Support Groups, and staff teams. He joined us officially on April 1, 2021, and can be reached at email@example.com.
